NOTE: I cannot keep track of requests too far out - we do not do wait lists anymore like others - it is far too difficult to manage when mother nature has a say and people change their minds every week - sorry! If you see a spot open on the website, feel free to apply!
PUPPY APPLICATION
We value your time and we very much appreciate those of you that take the time to fill out an application. We receive dozens of emails every week and we take seriously completed applications (vs. “hey, do you have puppies right now?”). We appreciate that you take the time to do it and hope you understand that the value out of it is us making sure we have the right fit for you, and our puppies. We respond to those that take the time to tell us more about themselves. Email us your completed application – [email protected] THANK YOU so much for your interest in our Goldendoodles or Sheepadoodles!
PLEASE MAKE SURE EVERYONE IN THE HOUSEHOLD IS FULLY ON BOARD BEFORE APPLYING AND SUBMITTING INQUIRIES - PLEASE RESPECT OUR TIME - OUR WEBSITE HAS LOTS OF INFO FOR YOU TO LEARN ABOUT GOLDENDOODLES.
1. What is the timeframe you are thinking of getting a puppy? (NOTE: we are only booking a couple months in advance from now on to eliminate potential disappointment) - mother nature does not provide puppies on specific dates around vacations and travel plans, so some flexibility is necessary.
2. What gender, color, coat style, size, or generation preferences do you have, if any? (please note, we cannot guarantee adult size/weight, color, coat style) – If you are very set on a particular “look”, we can't guarantee! You must be flexible on some things - Mother Nature is very fickle on timing. Is there a particular list on the website you are interested in? If this is for something beyond 3 months from now, we are not able to tell you our plans that far out.
Any weight/size considerations?
3. What type of personality would fit your lifestyle and any other special considerations? Please keep in mind, all our puppies have great temperaments and it is up to YOU to train them to be what you want....if you have a high energy household, your puppy will become high energy - if you don't train your pup, your puppy won't have manners:
4. Do you have any children in your household, and their ages? (please note, puppies like to nip/play with their teeth) If you do have children, are you prepared to give a puppy enough priority? Puppies need A LOT of exercise - a tired puppy is a good puppy. Are your children gentle with animals? Are they aware that a puppy might nip them in play and that the puppy will be rambunctious at first?
5. Do you have any building/apartment weight restrictions/do you own or rent? If you do rent, what do you intend on doing if the puppy barks and whines and takes awhile to adjust to their new home? Are your neighbors dog friendly? We have had to help rehome several puppies because of resentful neighbors (from barking puppies - usually at the initial few weeks at their new home). We do not want to do this as it is extremely disruptive to a puppy's early training and adjustment.
6. Are you willing to attend puppy socialization classes and hire a trainer to help you and your puppy adjust? We stay in contact with our puppy owners and the ones that struggle are always the ones that did NOT take their puppy to socialization puppy group classes and/or did not have a trainer come to their home to teach them things. Even experienced dog owners know the benefits of taking a puppy to puppy group classes - so, we want owners that are willing to do this. It is worth it!:
7. Do you or anyone in your household believe in loudly/harshly scolding, hitting, or "punishing" a dog by such methods? Do you have or plan on having an electric fence (if so, do you have a pro trainer for it)?
8. Are you aware of the costs and time commitment of a puppy and the long term ownership of a dog? Please also tell us what you intend to do with your puppy. Do you walk or hike? Do you travel a lot? If so, do you plan on taking the puppy? Do you have the ability to exercise and play with a dog more than 4 times a day?
8a. If something were to happen to you, who will take care of your dog? If you get the puppy and have buyers remorse, who will take the puppy? Please understand that our puppies are not for rent, they are for life, even if they bite you and your kids with their puppy shark teeth and cry all night - they are babies and need patience, love, and training.
8b. If you have kids and they play sports, what will the dog do all day/night/weekends? Does your family have the time for a dog that is a social, human loving animal?
8c. Are you aware that many doodles need professional grooming and/or daily brushing to avoid mats? This can add up to $100-$200 every 8 - 14 weeks.
8d. Are you ready for a baby? Are you ready for potentially a week or two of nonstop crying whenever you leave? Puppy biting and puppy energy can be exhausting. Are you able to take the first few days or weeks off to bond with the puppy so when eventually you do leave, he isn't so scared of the "new" place?
9. Do you currently have any other dogs in your household? If so, do they like puppies?:
10. Will you be picking up your puppy or will other arrangements, such as delivery or flight nanny, need to be made? (please note, we do try to arrange a group delivery to a halfway point for every litter but you're welcome to come):
11. Where do you live and what is your contact information? Please include your full name, living address, email, and phone number:
12. Are there any special considerations or concerns that we should know about?:
13. Please provide us with a reference. Name and email is fine. If this is someone that is already an RVD owner, please note so.
14. If you are a person/family that could potentially have "buyers remorse," or if you are 'never satisfied', please do not send in this application. Thank you for considering my sanity in advance. ;-)
We do NOT push our puppies on people. We will most likely try to talk you out of a puppy (especially if you are unsure) - we want committed, solid, ready for 'the puppy work and investment' type owners so that our pups will be successful and happy dogs for their entire 10-15 years of living! Adventures and lots of fun times should fill their lives.
Thank you!

PROCESS
We often end up with waiting lists - the spots are usually reserved before the puppies are even ready to go home. Once in awhile, we open up a list "late" - or we will keep some puppies to train as started puppies for those that want a pup with more experience than an 8 week old. We are proud of our puppies and we are grateful for our caring fans and owners. If you are thinking about getting one of our puppies and see an "OPEN" spot on the website, do not wait to apply.
STEPS
1. Email us your application (above)
2. Once you hear back from us, place a deposit if we have a litter coming/puppy for you
3. Watch your email and our website/Facebook Page for updates and pics
4. If the puppies are on a wait list (ie, not available right now), when it comes time to pick, we will schedule picking in the order of deposit received - we can Skype, Facetime, or you can come to visit - ON THE SCHEDULED PICKING/PICKUP go home day.
5. You will need to make arrangements for cleared funds to be received by us before you take your puppy
7. We let you know when you can come get your puppy/or when we can deliver - at vet clearance
8. We will review/sign the contract at pickup/delivery
We are a small family that each has Goldendoodles, and some of us have Sheepadoodles - we live in different households but we work together to produce the best Goldendoodles and Sheepadoodles for great owners. If you need shipping, please email or call us before putting your deposit up to discuss cost and arrangements. If you live in the Northeast, we can deliver for an additional fee. We can discuss a fair rate.
We start lightly crate training our puppies at 3 to 5 weeks old, so by the time you get your puppy, they are on their way to being potty trained (but they are by no means, potty trained at 8 weeks old). You must be consistent and patient to reinforce what we have taught them.
Our puppies will come to you with their first shots and deworming done by a veterinarian. We will provide you with vet information and any additional records that we have. We recommend that you visit your vet when you get your puppy to make sure the puppy gets fully vaccinated (as puppies, they need to receive a series of boosters) and to ask the vet any questions that you might have. Although we deworm multiple times before you pick up your puppy, puppies tend to be susceptible to getting parasites; bring a stool sample into your vet to check for any issues. We do not recommend that you use over the counter deworming medications, as they do not work consistently – see your vet for deworming medication and follow the directions carefully.
Most puppies are upset the first few nights away from their litter mates. We encourage you to let your puppy get familiar with their own crate and use it consistently throughout their life - but, it is, of course, up to you if you want to continue with the crate training.
We are not a puppy mill, we do not have a barn or garage full of dozens of puppies – they receive a lot of socialization with us! We truly care about dogs – we are in love with all of them – and we want the best for them. Please keep us updated as they grow!
Puppy prices are FIRM. We prefer cash and or all other types of payments must clear several days before you take your puppy!
NYS sales tax is 8%.
If you are paying via PayPal, if you don't click 'Friends & Family', add 3% for PayPal fee. You can also make a check payable to one of us, but it must clear before you take your puppy. PayPal account is [email protected]. First come, first serve on the deposits. Your puppy will not be held for you without the deposit or full payment. Funds must be cleared before you can take your puppy. Venmo is @Cherrie-Mahon
PLEASE NOTE: adult size, coat type (curly, flat, etc.) and color are not guaranteed!
In addition, a contract, which includes a 2 year health guarantee against hereditary issues and receipt for payment, is required for the purchase of all puppies. You also agree in the contract to spay/neuter, to keep the puppy from harm to the best of your ability, and make sure her veterinarian care is kept up to date. You also will need to agree to work with a dog trainer if necessary, to help you, your family, and your new puppy family member adjust. While we are willing to take back our puppies, we feel it is unfair to any puppy that is returned because the owners didn't take the time to go to puppy socialization classes and retain a good dog trainer to come into the home. Also, if you have children, you must be ready to handle a puppy that nips and bites - some puppies don't at all but most go through a phase where they think kids are their littermates and they nip and wrestle.
Can you visit? Yes, on the Picking Day that we schedule. Once the puppies are about 8-9 weeks old, we welcome you to come and see the puppies (and pick your puppy up if we are not helping to deliver to you). We ask that you use the hand sanitizer that we will provide and take off your shoes at the door. Our home is not a business 'store' and our dogs are our pets – we consider the puppies our pets too! You will find we are clean and friendly - to keep the puppies safe, we request everyone to use the hand sanitizer we provide and to keep children from running around or handling the puppies too roughly. Children must sit down to hold/play with the puppies. This is to ensure the safety and health of the puppies. Also, please make an appointment and be considerate of our time and our home.
PICKING OUT A PUPPY
While we say 'first to commit, first serve', we also want to make a good pairing. If you pick a puppy by looks only and not thinking of your lifestyle and matching its personality, then you won't be happy, and neither will the pup. Yes, puppies have different personalities - but doodle puppies are often very similar (friendly and funny)Sometimes it takes awhile for them to decide where they are at in the pecking order, how people oriented they are, how brave they are, or a whole range of other things. While we love big dogs, we are not breeding for huge, huge dogs. So, yes, size might be a factor in what you are looking for. We can only guess at size (and coat) because mother nature can be fickle. We will talk with you and help decide what puppy is best for you (or, if we don't have one that would fit, then we'll refer you to other breeders). We do not like to make matches early on. While there might be the occasional exception, we'd prefer to wait until after they are at least 8-9 weeks old to determine the best fit. With that said, because people will have priority by the order of commitment, sometimes you might not get the puppy you've had your eye on. If there is a case that you don't, we will refund your deposit if we feel it is a reasonable request.
And, we've already said this, but we'll say it again - we do not guarantee adult size or coat style or color. We have had a range of sizes and lots of different colors and type of coats so far. It's a wonderful rainbow of options. BUT, puppies coats change, sometimes several times, before they become adults. There are also Facebook groups that you can join and you'll see lots of pictures of adults. Goldendoodle and Sheepadoodle adults don't look exactly like they did when they were puppies and neither will yours - it's fun to watch them grow!
We also do not guarantee 'no shedding' or 'hypoallergenic' dogs. Breeders that say this, shouldn't. Some do not shed, some will shed a little, and some will shed more. Ours so far do not shed anywhere near the same level as a full golden retriever, and some do not shed at all. Please read more about this under our Information page.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO MAKING A GREAT MATCH FOR YOU AND OUR PUPPIES!
